The holidays are never the same anymore but I’m trying to make the best of it. Part of it is because I’m getting older. The excitement is the same for me, but not for most adults around me. I’m a child at heart and it shows, especially during this time of year.
(Let me just make a quick side note and say that I’ve been making these cinnamon rolls from Chebe a lot lately. I eat grain and dairy free, so whenever I find recipes or mixes for pastries I can eat, and they actually taste GOOD, I get just a tad excited. This time, I added apples and walnuts into the mix. The end product was better than I imagined! It definitely did not disappoint. I also made the pumpkin vase with some help from my trusty side kick. I bought the flowers and the pumpkin, around $10 total, from Sprouts. So easy and such a cute decoration!)
I have so much to be thankful for while celebrating with this holiday spirit. One of the things I’m excited most about is getting to play Santa Claus. Now, I’ve already gotten comments about how I’m not a fat man with a white beard. Yes, trust me, I know. I mean that I get to give back to others. I try to not do Christmas for myself (I slip up and buy myself unnecessary things because I can’t help myself sometimes). Instead, I shop for people and families I don’t know. I have everything I need, plus more. Some people aren’t as fortunate as I am. Why wouldn’t I want to make someone’s Christmas amazing and surprise them?
I think paying it forward brings good karma, and will bring good things back to me in return.
Comment below how you’re giving back this year. I would love to read all of the different ideas everyone has!
